I am Craig Raucher, a logistics executive, entrepreneur, and community leader with more than four decades of experience in the transportation and freight industry. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about building businesses, developing strong professional relationships, and helping organizations achieve sustainable growth. Beyond my professional work, I am proud to be the founder and commissioner of the Staten Island Basketball League (SIBL), one of New York City's longest-running organized basketball leagues.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Brooklyn College in 1975. My education provided the foundation for a career focused on business leadership, logistics, and operational excellence. Early on, I developed a strong interest in transportation, supply chain management, sales leadership, and organizational growth—areas that would shape my professional journey for decades to come.
After graduating from college, I began my career in the transportation and freight industry. Over the years, I had the opportunity to work with leading organizations, including DHL Airways and Skynet Worldwide Express, where I held various leadership positions. Throughout my career, I focused on business development, sales leadership, strategic planning, and operational management. I worked closely with teams and clients to improve efficiency, strengthen customer relationships, and drive long-term growth. These experiences allowed me to gain valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing the logistics industry. Building on this experience, I later founded Open Man Consulting, where I have advised organizations on freight optimization, logistics strategy, sales development, and business performance improvement. My goal has always been to help businesses identify opportunities, overcome operational challenges, and achieve measurable results.
One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is founding the Staten Island Basketball League (SIBL) in 1980. What started as a local basketball program has grown into one of New York City's most established and respected community basketball organizations.
For more than 45 years, SIBL has brought together players from different backgrounds, creating an environment centered on competition, sportsmanship, respect, and friendship. The league continues to operate at PS 8 in Great Kills, Staten Island, and remains an important part of the local basketball community.
As commissioner, I have remained actively involved in the league's growth and day-to-day operations. Watching generations of players build friendships, stay active, and enjoy the game has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
My connection to basketball extends far beyond league management. Despite undergoing multiple knee surgeries and knee replacement procedures, I continue to play basketball and maintain an active lifestyle. I strongly believe that perseverance, discipline, and physical activity contribute to both personal well-being and long-term success. Staying active has taught me valuable lessons about resilience and determination, and I hope my experience encourages others to remain engaged in sports and fitness regardless of age or physical challenges.
Throughout my career, I have been guided by the principles of integrity, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Whether leading business initiatives or managing a community sports organization, I have always focused on creating opportunities for growth, collaboration, and positive impact.
I believe that leadership is about helping others succeed, building strong relationships, and
making meaningful contributions to the communities we serve. These values have shaped both my professional career and my involvement in community sports.
As I reflect on my journey, I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to contribute to both the logistics industry and the Staten Island community. Whether through business leadership, consulting, or community sports, my goal has always been to make a positive difference.
